Elly Morrow to hang up the helmet at the end of the year

Elly Morrow Bids Farewell to Dunlop Super2 Series After 2023 Season

Tickford Racing recently announced that Elly Morrow will be ending her Dunlop Super2 Series career after the 2023 season finale. This decision comes a year after Morrow joined Tickford and teamed up with Brad Vaughan, the 2022 Super3 title winner. Currently positioned 14th in the standings, Morrow's final round for the year will be at the upcoming Vailo Adelaide 500.

The official statement from Tickford highlights Morrow's plan to delve deeper into her family business, while also maintaining her involvement in karting and nurturing young driving talent off the racetrack.

Tickford's Team Principal, Tim Edwards, expressed his appreciation for Morrow’s contribution to the team: "In the five rounds this year, Elly showcased remarkable progress, especially considering the intense competition within the Super2 category. We're grateful for her time with us, her vibrant personality, and her outstanding humor."

Edwards also hinted at the team's intentions to scout fresh talent for their Super2 program in 2024 via the Tickford Autosport initiative.

Morrow’s journey in motorsport is commendable. From her beginnings in karting, she made a significant leap, joining the Super2 grid in the Super3 class in late-2021 with Brad Jones Racing. Her collaboration with the Albury-based team continued into 2022 for a Super2 campaign. However, she took a break from the final round in Adelaide to participate in the S5000, which coincided with the announcement of her collaboration with Tickford.

Tickford Autosport, as referenced by Edwards, is a relatively new venture that focuses on junior series and includes not just Super2, but other platforms like the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series. This initiative is particularly significant as Tickford is streamlining its Repco Supercars Championship teams from four to two in the coming year.

Notably, alongside Morrow's departure, there is another significant transition on the horizon for Tickford. Tim Edwards, who has effectively spearheaded the team for nearly two decades, will be signing off from his role in Adelaide.

As the Super2 series progresses, Brad Vaughan stands ninth post Round 5. Meanwhile, Anderson Motorsport's Zak Best, who has been a Tickford co-driver in the recent Supercars enduros, is currently leading the series, having a 30-point edge over Eggleston Motorsport’s Kai Allen.
