Supercars Champion Brodie Kostecki makes the move to djr in 2025
Brodie Kostecki to be the new main driver for DJR in 2025
Reigning Repco Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki is set to make a high-profile switch from Erebus Motorsport to Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) for the 2025 season. Kostecki will partner veteran Will Davison, who has been re-signed by DJR, marking a new chapter for the team as they aim to return to the top of the Supercars Championship.
Kostecki’s signing follows the recent news of Anton De Pasquale’s departure to Team 18, filling the seat left vacant by Mark Winterbottom. This reshuffle makes Kostecki the latest domino to fall in the ongoing silly season puzzle. DJR’s recruitment of a Supercars champion for the first time since 2020 signals their intent to revive their championship-winning pedigree.
Kostecki's rapid ascent through the Supercars ranks has been nothing short of remarkable. After cutting his teeth in the Super2 series with Kostecki Brothers Racing, he made a memorable Supercars debut in 2019, partnering his cousin Jake in a wildcard entry. His aggressive driving style gained further attention during his 2020 Bathurst 1000 appearance with Erebus, where he forced a race-ending mistake from Jamie Whincup.
Earning a full-time spot in 2021, Kostecki quickly became a force to be reckoned with, finishing his rookie season in the top ten. His breakout moment came last year when he clinched the championship in only his third full season, securing six wins in a thrilling title battle with Shane van Gisbergen. Although his title defense this season has been challenging, Kostecki is eager to start fresh with DJR.
“I am excited to join the Shell V-Power Racing Team, a team with such a rich history of success. This partnership represents a new chapter for me, and I look forward to working alongside Will and the entire team,” Kostecki said.
Team co-owner and Supercars legend Dick Johnson expressed his excitement about Kostecki’s arrival, highlighting the young driver’s mechanical insight and competitive spirit. “Brodie is one of the top drivers in the series, and we’re thrilled to have him join us. With Will and Brodie, we’re ready to chase wins and reclaim our place at the top,” said Johnson.
Will Davison, who will enter his fifth season with DJR, also expressed enthusiasm about the team’s direction. “I’m proud to continue with the team that feels like home. I’m looking forward to working with Brodie; together, we’ll push each other to new heights,” Davison stated.
With Kostecki’s addition, DJR is poised for a strong resurgence, aiming to bring the legendary team back to the forefront of Supercars competition in 2025.
