Riccardo out with injury Liam Lawson to debut at the Dutch grand prix

Liam Lawson has been called up to replace Daniel Ricciardo for the remainder of the Dutch Grand Prix after Ricciardo suffered a hand injury in a crash during Friday practice. The unusual incident occurred when Ricciardo had to take evasive action to avoid the crashed McLaren of Oscar Piastri at Turn 3, resulting in a collision with the barrier. The impact caused Ricciardo to sustain a metacarpal break in his left hand, leading to his replacement by AlphaTauri's reserve driver, Liam Lawson, for the rest of the race weekend. Lawson, a Red Bull junior driver, will make his competitive Formula 1 debut after having participated in practice sessions for AlphaTauri and Red Bull in the past. The 21-year-old New Zealander, who has experience in F3 and F2, is also competing in Japan's Super Formula Championship and currently holds the second position in the standings, making his F1 debut a notable addition to his motorsport journey. The AlphaTauri team expressed well wishes for Ricciardo's swift recovery and placed their confidence in Lawson to step into the role for the Dutch Grand Prix.
